Grieco, Tony - cropped Nov 18 2009Tony Grieco  is the Executive Director of Ivy Hall Assisted Living  in Alpharetta.  One of seven children, Tony has always had a crowd around him, so he is in his element at Ivy Hall!  Listen in as he tells us how he made a decision to commit his life and career to serving seniors as a result of an article in Newsweek.  Though Ivy Hall is a beautiful facility, Tony tells us that “the magic is not in the bricks and sticks;  the magic is in the terrific people the make up the staff of Ivy Hall.”  One of the highlights of Ivy Hall is the food, cooked by a former sous chef from Chateau Elan.  Arrange a tour and maybe even a dinner by calling Tony at (770-814-0114).

Ross, Lynn - cropped Nov 18 2009Lynn Ross is a Social Worker at The Emory University School of Medicine.  She specializes in neurological movement disorders.  Though her title is a bit of a mouthful, Lynn’s role is to work with patients and families dealing with Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease and other ailments that manifest themselves through a deterioration of the part of the brain responsible for physical movement.  Given the permanent nature of this deterioration, Lynn’s has a critical responsiblity to gently educate and point patients and families to resources that may help them deal with this reality.  To this end, one of Lynn’s extracurricular passions is the American Parkinsons Disease Association (www.apdaparkinson.org), where she serves as the coordinator of the Information and Referral Center.   Lynn can be reached at Emory at (404) 728-6300, or at the APDA at (404) 728-6552.

Osheroff, McKeever - cropped Nov 18 2009Our final guests on today’s show are members of  Dekalb Medical Center’s Cancer Support Team.  With an MA from Tulane University in New Orleans, Margie Osheroff has always had a passion for serving people.  She was particularly drawn to Dekalb Medical Center because of the unique, holistic approach taken to patient care – dealing with patients and families, addressing emotional, social, financial and spiritual needs in addition to the physical needs of the patient.  Margie has taken this approach a step further by joining hands with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and the Troutman Sanders law firm to provide patients and their families with free critical legal assistance for items such as Power of Attorney and Living Wills.

Rose McKeever has been with the Cancer Support Team since its inception 19 years ago.  In fact, she has been with Dekalb Medical Center for 31 years!  Like Margie, Rose loves the holistic approach taken by Dekalb Medical Center.  She obviously loves her job, as evidenced by her tenure there.  Part of Rose’s responsibility is to coordinate a number of cancer support groups.  One in particular that is near to Rose’s heart is the Tree House Gang.  This is a support group for the children of cancer patients, and focuses on helping children adjust to the idea and reality of having a parent that is diagnosed with cancer.  Rose and Margie can be reached at Dekalb Medical Center at (404) 501-5701.
