On May 29, 2004 President Bush dedicated the WWII Memorial to honor the “Greatest Generation”.   However, many of the men and women who fought and sacrificed for our country have not had the opportunity or the financial ability to visit their own Memorial.  Through their program, Honor Air, The Roswell Rotary Club is proud to announce that they will be escorting approximately sixty World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. on April 2, 2014. It is their intention to honor as many of these “ordinary people who saved the world” as possible by providing them a completely free day trip to visit their Memorial”.

The youngest World War II veteran is now an octogenarian and most are in their nineties. These heroes are passing away at the rate of 1,000 per day so time is of the essence! Listen as Sue Sharp, CEO and Owner of Mobility Scooters and More, describes this life changing event. Her stories will move you to be active in honoring these Hero’s.

Sudhir Upadhya gets the Eugeria! After a successful 25-year career in information technology, Cindy Nelson felt she needed to make more of a difference in the lives of the people and community around her.  On a whim, she took the LSAT test, and discovered that either law is easy, or she had a natural inclination for it!  Though not looking to go to law school, she was approached by several that wanted to pay her way!

So Cindy quit her job, and went to law school!  She selected Southern Illinois University because both her mother and brother lived there, and she had an opportunity to live close to them after 20 plus years away.  During that time she discovered that the school ran an elder law clinic that provided free legal counsel to seniors across the southern portion of the state.  In getting involved in this clinic, she discovered her passion.  On a Christmas break, Cindy went to hear Miles Hurley speak at a church group.  It was at this presentation that she confirmed her desire to practice elder law.

In addition to her work with Miles Hurley, Cindy also did an internship with the Georgia Long Term Care Ombudsman, Melanie McNeil, working at the capitol advocating for seniors rights.  She continues this work today, representing Co-Age, the Georgia Gerontology Society and the Area Agencies on Aging.  She’s got her work cut out for her, since Georgia has the 4th fastest growing senior population in the country, and Georgia was the second hardest hit state in the country from sequestration, losing nearly 14% of their federal funding.

Tim Madison retired once already.  In fact he retired twice – once from General Electric, and once from Coca Cola.  One would think he’d done his duty!  A New England native, Tim earned his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Vermont.  He later moved to the DC area and earned a graduate degree from American University.  He spent career in information technology, working for GE and Coke.  Along the way, he developed an interest in financial planning, and earned his Certified Financial Planner designation in his spare time.  Though he moonlighted as a certified financial planner for seven hears, in 2000 Tim decided to retire from Corporate America, and become a financial planner full time.  About five years ago, Tim found Money Concepts, and decided to put out a shingle under their name.  Money Concepts has more than 2500 certified financial planners worldwide, and provides consistency of service across all 50 states and dozens of countries.
