World Class Service from a Moving Company? Yes! Senior Transition Services!

2015 Roger Kurth

In 2009, Roger Kurth opened Senior Transition Services after a successful career in sales.  Several years later, when Roger was looking for someone that shared the same values as it relates to delivering the highest customer service, Roger didn’t have to look far.  Barbara Kurth, his sister, joined Senior Transitions Services and together they handle the details of planning, packing, moving, and unpacking and estate distribution while advising families on how best to prepare emotionally and socially for a move.

Barbara and Roger’s key ingredient to their successful customer service is the right people.  They hire only, “people with the same values and desire to be the best”.  Barbara shares how Roger’s involvement in Boy Scouts of American and earning his Eagle Scout status helped develop his character and integrity as a professional.  “It’s not the Eagle designation that makes high quality employees, but rather the process of becoming an Eagle Scout that forms character and a service attitude”.  Today Roger continues to stay involved in his local Boy Scout council and currently Roger and Barbara employ four Eagle Scouts.  Quality people who share the same desire to offer the highest level of service is what makes Senior Transition Services “your one source for senior moving services in Atlanta”.

For more information, check out Senior Transition Services website at www.seniortransitionservices.com or call Roger at 678-758-7929 or Barbara at 770-845-3030.

Medicare Enrollment Can Be Tricky – Let Bonnie Dobb’s Expertise Show You The Way!

Dobbs, Bonnie

In 2008 Bonnie Dobbs obtained her Georgia Insurance License to become a general insurance agent. Through her experience with a family member and the Medicare issues they faced, Bonnie decided to specialize in Medicare to help individuals that are overwhelmed with the complexity of the program.

What is Medicare?  What is Medicare Part A; Part B; Part C; Part D…. Part G? Why were my co-pays met for last month, but not for this month?  How come my Medicare deductible is greater this year? Why is my 58 year old neighbor receiving Medicare benefits, but I can’t?  What are Medicare Supplement and Advantage Plans?  Why won’t my doctor accept Medicare?  Bonnie continuously researches and studies Medicare for the answers to these questions and others.  Weekly she seeks out the regulatory and interpreted changes, and communicates how they may affect her clients.  Her goal is to educate her clients explaining Medicare in “simple, easy to understand language, lessening the anxiety of the unknown while increasing her client’s quality of life”.

If you think Bonnie can help you, please contact her at 770-655-2275.

But I Don’t Want Chinese Food!!! Keystone Conflict Solutions on Eugeria! Radio!

Rebecca Zimmerman 2A native New Yorker, Rebecca Zimmerman moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1977 to attend Emory Law School.  After obtaining her law degree Rebecca built a successful law practice while she and her husband grew a successful school photography business. Later Rebecca was eager to use her juris prudence skills in a unique way to help seniors and their families. After the photography business was sold, Rebecca opened an elder care mediation service named Keystone Conflict Solutions.

Keystone Conflict Resolution employs mediation techniques that empower siblings to make informed and beneficial decisions on the part of the aging parents.  The mediator doesn’t try to solve the conflict, but creates a spirit of compromise and negotiation that allows self-determining solutions.  Three key principles guide the process; self-determination, impartiality and confidentiality.  The mediation is short and cost effective when compared to legal action.

If Elder Care Mediation is of interest, you can contact Rebecca at 404-314-7228 or visit the Keystone Conflict Solutions web site at www.KCSMediation.com.

I Should Have Been and Engineer! 101Mobility on Eugeria! Radio!

Garol OrrA native Georgian, Garol Orr describes herself as a marketing professional that should have been an engineer. As a Mobility Specialist/Certified Aging in Place Specialist and Partner with 101Mobility she discovered that putting things together that help her clients reach their personal mobility goals is what Garol loves best about her job.

After attending North Georgia College and starting her career in marketing with a local beverage company, a mobility problem with her grandmother lead Garol to a new career. An extensive product line, and “building things that helped people” was what attracted Garol to 101Mobility.  101Mobility “assists clients in finding the mobility equipment that they need to keep their homes or businesses comfortable and safe”.  101Mobility sells and rents mobility equipment; stair lifts; wheelchairs; ramps; scooters; auto lifts; vertical platform lifts; pool lifts; patient lifts and residential elevators, but their customer service “is what it’s all about”, providing all of the installation and service in-house with technicians/licensed elevator mechanics who can meet the challenge of the most difficult customized installations.  Service during the sale, the installation and most importantly for the life of the equipment is what distinguishes 101Mobility from the competition.

Reverse for Purchase – Terry Bowser on Eugeria! Radio!

Bowser 2015Reared in southwest Pennsylvania, our guest, Terry Bowser earned a degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  While vacationing in Myrtle Beach, Terry fell in love with the south, and decided to stay. Terry has been in Atlanta for 30 years and works as a Reverse Mortgage Advisor for CBC National Bank.

Reverse Mortgages have been around for over 30 years, and though originally unregulated, today’s reverse mortgages are safe, regulated and insured by the federal government.  These “home equity loans” allow the homeowner to tap into their home’s equity, while allowing them to remain the holder of the deed. Payment–free, a Reverse Mortgage is a non-recourse loan and can be used for any purpose.

A new “retirement benefit” of a Reverse Mortgage is the “Reverse for Purchase” which allows the retiree to purchase a new primary home and initiate a Reverse Mortgage all in a single transaction.  This is especially attractive to seniors relocating to be close to their children.  They own their home and have the cash from the Reverse Mortgage to use for anything from helping pay for the grandchildrens’ education to funding their home care and practical needs.

To hear more about reverse mortgages or CBC National Bank, please contact Terry Bowser at 404-642-6021, or email him at terry.bowser@cbcnationalbank.com.

“Breathe again” in time of high stress and uncertainty – Guardian Hospice on Eugeria! Radio!

Guardian Hospice 2015While his father struggled with COPD, Steve Senay learned that, “Hospice is not what it used to be”. This positive personal experience led Steve into the hospice arena.  After graduating from the University of Georgia and spending over twenty years in the medical field, Steve wasn’t looking for a career change, rather it came looking for him.  Guardian Home Care and Hospice, part of the AccentCare family of companies that offers a continuum of care and community-based service convinced Steve to combine his professional and person experience and reach out to those hurting families during the time they feel the most pressure, stress and uncertainty.  “The best thing that I do is meet with the families and give them relief and support, allowing them to be the family and not just the care-giver”.

“Guardian Hospice is largely for the family”, providing Medicare-certified home healthcare and hospice, licensed home health and homecare services. Guarding Hospices’ team of professionals uses the latest technology, coupled with caring hands, to ensure that the family get the assistance they need to improve the quality of their patients’ lives while maintaining their dignity.  Their model of delivering care “focuses on the family as much as the patient”.  That’s the differentiator… that’s their secret to success!

If this unique way of caring for your loved one interests you contact Steve at 770-458-1624 or visit Guardian’s web site at: www.accentcare.com.

Creative Funding for Long Term Care

Giglio, MikeAfter retiring from the US Coast Guard Service, Mike Giglio wanted to own his own business while also serving the needs of seniors.  Mike started Georgia Life Settlements LLC located in Milton, Georgia.  Georgia Life Settlement wants to “earn your trust and confidence through a Life Settlement that can be an unexpected blessing that brings peace of mind during a period of great need.”

What is a Life Settlement?  It’s the sale of an asset, the life insurance policy, “to a third party for more than its accumulated cash surrender value but less that then policy’s face value” or death benefit. The U.S. Supreme Court case, Grigsby v. Russell, 22 U.S. 149(1911) established a life insurance policy as private property that can be assigned at the will of the owner.  Therefore, the policy is an asset that may be sold.  So rather than continue to pay for a policy that you no longer need or can afford, a Life Settlement can be a blessing.

If this unique approach to utilizing your life insurance as a long term care investment is of interest, call Mike Giglio at 770-715-4493 or visit Georgia Life Settlements web site at: www.georgialifesettlements.com.

Don’t just survive, but thrive! Brookdale of Roswell on Eugeria! Radio!

Barbara Prasch knew “from the time she was four”, that she wanted to work helping seniors; “that special group of people.”   She is a professional gerontologist with a graduate degree in gerontology.  Throughout her career she’s held numerous positions “dedicating her life to finding the right solution for the aging person.  No one can stop the aging process therefore I’ve made it my live calling to make that process better.”  At Brookdale, Barbara brings all the experience necessary to provide this service.

Diana Rhea’s journey to the senior arena is a common one.  After a “special opportunity” to live with her grandmother, coupled with the loss of her Dad, she promised herself that she would continue to give back to the senior community. Diana has found the perfect fit for giving back at Brookdale Roswell.  Brookdale’s promise to assume a position of leadership, transparency, honest engagement and ultimately, trust leads “folks to come to Brookdale to live, by just changing their address.  Brookdale facilitates seniors not to simple survive, but to thrive.”

Brookdale Roswell, formerly Chambrel of Roswell, is a senior living community offering independent and assisted living options for seniors.  It is one of over 1200 Brookdale communities leading as the country’s largest senior living provider. Brookdale Roswell sits on what was once 30 acres of apple orchards.  Today these grounds are maintained as a nature preserve.  A wide range of activities are available and include activities from gardening and yoga to trips to Broadway shows.  “At Brookdale, if you can think up an activity… we do it.”  Many of the activities and functions are open to the public.  One such offering is their monthly Caregivers Support Group, which meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 2 pm.

For information on Brookdale Roswell, visit www. brookdale.com/communities/chambrel-at-roswell on the web or call 770-594-4600.
