Healthy Until the Day You Die

Dr DurbinDr. Randy Durbin grew up in rural western Kentucky and obtained an undergraduate degree from Emory University in economics beginning his career in the banking industry.  Later his interest in healthcare led him back to Emory to obtain a Master Degree in Public Health specializing in Epidemiology.  For the next ten years Dr. Durbin worked for the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in various fields including cancer research and bioterrorism.  In 2007 Dr. Durbin’s desire to work one on one with people led him to obtain his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Pikeville, Kentucky.  In 2011, after a surgical internship and residency in Otolaryngology/Head/ Neck/Facial & Plastic Surgery, he relocated and opened his practice in Suwanee, Georgia.

Dr. Durbin’s practice is strategically located in Suwanee because the area “provides a good mix of people – young families, established neighborhoods and folks looking to retire there”.  This strategy fits nicely into his philosophy of “keeping people healthy until they die” through life style management, wellness practices and the treatment of acute and/or chronic disorders.  Currently less than 15% of seniors get an annual wellness checkup. Dr. Durbin stresses that all seniors should be getting an extensive annual evaluation focused on the “whole body approach”.   “This commitment is the driving force behind our personalized service with longer appointment times, dedicated to addressing pressing problems”.  With over 16 years of experience in healthcare, public health and health informatics, Dr. Durbin and his staff are well equipped to keep you healthy until the day you die!

If this focus on a “whole body approach” for you, or your aging loved one, is of interest, Dr. Durbin’s invites you to contact him at 706-216-7188 or visit his web site at www.drrandydurbin.com.

CareZips Outerwear Pants that Offer Comfort, Confidence, and Dignity to Incontinence Patients

081815.MollyDye.CareZipsMolly Dye, a true southern bell, was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, and developed her love of sewing as a home-economics major at the University of Georgia. After a long and successful career in politics in the office of United States Senator Paul Coverdale, Molly went home to help take care of her aging mother. It was there, watching her Mom and her caregiver struggle and strain to remove her mother’s outer clothing before even getting to the adult diaper underneath, Molly thought, “There has just got to be a better way to do this….”  She said she “dug up her sewing machine from college” and thus was born the first prototype of CareZips pants.

After more than several prototypes, Molly enlisted the help of Savannah College of Art & Design to arrive at the final design for CareZips patented unisex pants with unique three zipper system that makes changing an adult brief faster and easier! She then contracted with Incompass Manufacturing, a well-established and successful manufacturer of surgical scrubs and other clothing to make and warehouse the pants. The “H-Word” Doesn’t Have to be as Scary as We Make It

AberdeenListen as Denise Lukow, RN Administrator and new Community Relations Manager, Josefina Bates, discuss with MaryJo, Sam and Lee, what sets Aberdeen Place Hospice apart and why the “H-word” need not be scary but bring comfort, dignity and peace to a very difficult, but inevitable part of life.

Aberdeen Place Hospice opened in January of 2014 and as they enter into the second half of their second year, they are more convinced than ever that Hospice can ease the journey to end of life like nothing else…  Their social workers, nurses and CNA’s help with paperwork , end of life decisions, give spiritual support and of course support the physical comfort of their patients as well as the emotional peace of their families and communities. They want people to know that Hospice is a federal and state benefit that anyone is entitled to! If you are unsure that your loved one would qualify for hospice care, give Aberdeen Place a call at 678-878-3440 and one of their nurses or licensed social workers will come do a free assessment.

At Aberdeen Place Hospice we are large enough to be professional and small enough to operate like a family. They serve 23 metro Atlanta Counties within a 20 to 25 mile radius.

Don’t make the end of life journey alone….Call Aberdeen Place Hospice at 678-878-3440 or Josefina at 404-900-4306 or find them on line at www.aphospice.com
